In the product
The challenge
Working out how to move to another country means reading government pages written for lawyers, then checking them against forum posts written by strangers, some of which stopped being true two years ago. Serj wanted one place where a person could get an answer that fits their own situation and see exactly where that answer came from.
We built the product as a working prototype rather than a deck. A four-step profile picks up nationality, goal, funds, and timing, and the matching engine returns the pathways that fit, ranked. Cyprus went in first with six routes carried in full: the Digital Nomad Visa, employment permits, EU registration, permanent residence by investment under Regulation 6(2), student visas, and Category F. Every answer the assistant gives carries the source it read, so a claim can be checked rather than trusted. The whole thing installs to a phone home screen as a five-tab app.
The approach
Profile Before Answers
Four questions establish nationality, goal, funds, and timing before a single route is shown. Nothing generic gets recommended, because nothing is recommended until the system knows who is asking.
Six Routes, Carried Properly
Cyprus first, with each pathway written out in full: who qualifies, what it costs, what documents it needs, and how long it runs. Depth on one country beat a shallow index of forty.
Answers With Their Sources
The assistant labels where each part of an answer came from. On a subject where a wrong answer costs someone a year, being checkable matters more than sounding confident.
A Journey, Not a Search Box
The matched route becomes a dated roadmap with the next action on top, so the product still has a job to do after the first question is answered.
What we learned
People do not want to be told what is possible, they want to be told what applies to them, which means the profile has to come before the content
Citing the source under every answer changed the product from something a user has to trust into something they can verify
Six pathways carried end to end proved more than forty summarised, because depth is what a person actually needs on the day they decide to move
The outcome
A prototype good enough to be used, not just shown, which is what turned a nine-week production build from a proposal into a signed plan.
